Anybody watching this season? Not as exciting as usual, although I thought their fundraising special was well done.

I haven't watched any of them but thought I might watch it tonight to see what all the hoop-la is about. I would of voted for Sonjaya, but I think he got
 voted off, so who is left?

I thought Blake did an excellent job last night. Quite innovative. I wasn't crazy about Melinda Doolittle's performance, and she's been at the top (according to judges) almost throughout.

Phil and Chris were voted off. Bland boys, for sure. Sad, though. Four left, mostly women (YAY!).

Robin,
Phil's goodbye song brought tears. I have watched American Idol from the beginning. When they get voted off now, it is so sad. I think Melinda will win it. My daughter says that they don't vote on how well you sing, it is if they like you or not. She seems to think Jordin will win? I think it will be between Jordin and Melinda at the end. Blake is kind of interesting though and does do neat things with the songs. I still get a kick out of Simon and his remarks. Am I warped????  Elaine |

Only slightly warped... still playable on the turntable for sure. wink
I don't think Jordin is getting the votes that Melinda is getting since she came so close to losing out during the benefit last week. I might be wrong about that but I'm not at all certain how the whole thing works. |

Elaine I think you just still believe in the American Dream, so this is why you take it so hard when someone loses. Losing is something I can definitely relate to or being picked last. Ugh! Oh how I hate those grade school and junior high days.

Well another one gets voted off tonight. I think it will be Blake. His songs last night were not very good. I like all three of the ones that are left. But...I think it will be Melinda that wins in the end. I like Jordin on some songs. She is definitely great for a 17 year old. She will make it one way or another. American Idol will be great recognition.

I don't know what they are singing tonight. Has anyone heard? I think Blake will be voted off next but who knows. I was surprised when he outlasted Likisha. He doesn't have a bad voice but I don't think he is good enough to win it. I really think Melinda will but we will see tomorrow night.
Also don't forget the country music awards tonight. Carrie Underwood is up for a lot of awards, again. It seems like only one person wins everything and then they die out. She is sure giving Faith Hill a run for her money but then again, Faith Hill has already won so many. Country Music is my favorite. I wish we would start that song thread again. I agree with you Elaine that it will be Blake voted off tomorrow, but we'll see how they all do tonight. I liked Blake a lot till I heard he was using some sort of software program to come up with all his noisy arrangements; not very creative if you ask me. It's going to be tough between Jordin and Melinda, but I agree that Melinda is the better musician and performer of the two. Jordin sure is cute (and young) though and she just might pull it off; who knows.
I'm not much of a country music fan. Don't know why, as I do enjoy most of the songs I hear when traveling and tuning into different country radio stations. |

It was just a favorite song thread. That is about all it amounted to except we kept adding more songs to it. I think one would mention a song and it made us think of another song to add. We had quite a list of songs on it. I think it got lost when the board got hacked. Robin, Yep I think Blake will get voted off tonight. I really didn't like his songs last night. My daughter thinks Melinda will get voted off but I don't think so. We will see. Elaine |

I wasn't enamoured with Jordin's performances. I really thought Melinda was the best overall, Blake in second place. It will be interesting to see who gets voted off. Either way, all three are in for some great glitzy careers down the road.

Man, was I surprised that Melinda got eliminated! She has a great voice although she didn't seem much like an American Idol type. I think everyone was surprised including Melinda. This year hasn't been as interesting as former years.

My daughter hit it right as she said Melinda would be the next to go. She may also be right about the fact that it is not how well you sing it is how well they like you. I think that is crap but out of the two left, I hope Jordin wins. I don't like the weird sounds that Blake got off his computer software or wherever he got it. Sorry I forgot??? The first time he did the outer space sounds it was kind of neat but once was enough. Now he seems to put it in all his songs. Uggh! Have to give them all credit though, they made it this far.
Jerry, You are right. This is a weird year for American Idol. None of them entertain much. They all just stand there. I didn't like Taylor Hicks much but wow, looked how he jumped around.  Elaine |

Sorry, Elaine, I grew fond of Taylor Hicks for some reason. I even voted. This year I could care less, although I think Jordin "looks" like an American Idol.
