Hi Everyone,
My name is Andrea. I am new to this site and thought I would introduce myself. I am 26 years old I have been a TMJ sefferer for about 6 years. It is nice to know that there are others out there that have TMJ because for many years I felt like I was the only one. I am from Toronto, Ont and been through several doctors and treatments to try and alleviate this problem. Unfortunately, In Canada TMJ is really not well known or discussed. I ended up travelling to Virginia to see Dr.Stack and had surgery with him where they recaptured the discs. The surgery did alleviate a lot of the sympstoms but I still suffer on a daily basis. I am not "cured" nor do I think I ever will be. I am still wearing a splint (day and night) and it has been six years. My biggest problem right now that I battle with is the constant muscle spasms in my jaw and neck. I get massages weekly to try and alleviate some on the tension. I have a desk job where I am hunched over a computer all day, which I am sure does not help the problem. I am now seeing a doctor in London, Ontario, Canada who recently told me he does not think there is anything else he can do for me. I was devastated to hear that but do realizedthat I probably will never be 100% maybe not eve 90%. Anyway, just wanted to say "hello" and am grateful there is a site like this out there .
Thanks and hope to talk to many of you !
Andrea
