My mom told me that diesel is 4.15 a gallon here. Her truck takes diesel, which use to be cheaper than gas.

Well I cut back on the gas awhile back about six months ago. Now I need to cut back on the beef since my cholesterol is up. I still have quite a bit beef in my freezer. The food has gone sky high every time I go to the store. Geeeez. I stop in for just a few things and it is 60.00. It just doesn't seem fair.

This is just IMHO but instead of the federal government getting that money. We are getting that stimulus check, so we can spend that money on gas for a trip or just to drive. That gas money is going back right into the oil mans pocket's book. Could we be paying for someone's wedding? Ouch!

Whitney got another schloarship. We just found out for $1500.00 a semester, which is renewable each semester if she keeps her grades up. It goes straight to the school. Thank goodness! No student loans are being made in Missouri right now due to default rates. She has two schloarships now that will more than get her through if we keep the money in a separate acount for her. She lets us handle it for her. Thank goodness. I hope her car keeps running we bought it when she was 16. She can't pay for a car now.

That is funny! Who would of ever believed in this day and age that this would of happened?? I thought many years ago in the late 1970's when I was carpooling to work out here in the country to my job while in high school with Steve's cousin Cindy (the late) Doris Ann's daughter). We both had unglamourous jobs cleaning patient rooms at the hospital scrubbing toilets for $4.10 an hour that they would be working on a solution to this problem. That situation taught me to always buy in moderation I have had two used cars a Buick Skyhawk standard, and a used Ford Taurus when they first came out. In 1996 when Ford changed styles totally in the Taurus and got such a good safety rating and the air bags came out, I bought my first new car for something like $20,000.00 financed by Ford for three years at 5 percent approximately. This is all to the best of my memory we are talking more than ten years now. The payments were 350.00 a month. Steve and I were ill making a new car payment, because we were not making that much money at that time, but I got a promotion at work and I never had a new car. I wanted a new mustang, but they were so much more expensive and really unpractical for a mom with a six year old. I decided it was too much money and went with another Tauruas. I still have it in the garage with 86,000 actual miles on it. I don't plan on getting rid of it, because we have maintained it so well. It has always been in the garage and Steve has only put synthetic oil in it. I know no one would give me what it is really worth.

It was going to be Whitney's car while she student taught and worked on her master's degree while she taught her first couple of years. If we do buy something in the next couple of years it will make a good back-up car, because Steve's work car has 250,000 miles on it. It seems it is always in the shop every few months. Ugh.

Tomorrow I fill up, so I can tell you the local prices. I am sure they will be higher with the storms here.

On Friday I filled up my tank for $50.00, and I get about 351 miles per tank. That would include city and highway. I drive on the highway about 15 miles one way to town, but the town has grown so much I have to drive from one end to the other to get all my business done. I usually only use one tank of gas in my car a month, but my husband uses a lot driving back and forth to work. We also use his car on the weekends.

Gas was 3.69 and that was the cheapest unleaded grade. Disel was 4.25 a gallon.

I am very happy when I bought my car back in 1996 I bought fairly small or mid size. I don't know what I would do if I had bought something big living way out here. For instance, I had to drive to town three times last week for physical therapy and the doctor. That was a major amount of driving for me. I was just tired from going to town.
