Okay, here goes. The first 3 pictures are of bad habits we TMJers should NOT do . . . ever! The first one is obvious as to why and is a hard habit to break, but must be done.
These next two should be avoided because they put pressure on our jaw and can stress the joint.
Now we come to BAD sleeping positions. I think you can all tell why these should be avoided (undue pressure and stress on the jaw joint).
Now we have the pictures of GOOD sleeping positions.
The only way I can't sleep is the second because it hurts my neck of all things. Many TMJ "specialists" recommend position 2 - flat on the back.
I can't do that now because it bothers my neck. I did try this in the past, tho, but my jaw was slipping sideways and I'd awake in pain. Funny that
sleeping on my right side doesn't cause the same problem. If you notice, the other 3 are not fully on their sides but leaning that way. I personally
sleep most often like #4 but also sleep in positions 1 and 3. I do not put pressure on my jaw joint. I now wake up totally pain free every day, thank God!!
What a miracle!
I hope this will help anyone who has questions about sleeping positions. I now need to read the full article but here is the website address: http//www.galiffasyndrome.com/
Sleep well and God bless...
