takes a distinctive perspective on human body and diseases. According to its
principles, the five elements of nature –panchabhutas (earth, water, air, fire
and ether) are part of human body and these elements are manifested in three
forms called humours or doshas – kaph, pitta and vata, ny irregularities in
these humours will lead to diseases, say Ayurvedic texts. Another peculiarity
of Ayurveda is that while treating diseases, it takes into account not only the
body but also the mind and spirit. According to Ayurvedic practitioners, our
emotion or state of the mind too affects the body and emotional imbalances can
lead to an imbalance in humours too.

If you've ever been treated for severe pain from surgery, an injury, or an illness, you know just how vital pain relief medications can be.

Pain relief treatments come in many forms and potencies, are available by prescription or over-the-counter (OTC), and treat all sorts of physical pain—including that brought on by chronic conditions, sudden trauma, and cancer.

Pain relief medicines (also known as "analgesics" and "painkillers") are regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Some analgesics, including opioid analgesics, act on the body's peripheral and central nervous systems to block or decrease sensitivity to pain. Others act by inhibiting the formation of certain chemicals in the body.

Among the factors health care professionals consider in recommending or prescribing them are the cause and severity of the pain.

King Pharmaceuticals Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Pfizer, voluntarily recalled all dosage forms of the extended release capsules of morphine sulfate with naltrexone hydrochloride (Embeda) from U.S. pharmaceutical wholesalers and retailers on March 10, 2011. This long-acting pain medication is used for the management of moderate to severe pain when a continuous, around-the-clock opioid analgesic is needed for an extended period of time.

After seven years of being on Oxycontin, extended release Morphine, Neurontin, and Wellbutrin, I decided to have the doctor wean me off. He didn't know I was quitting the Neurontin, and Wellbutin, did that on my own. UGH! He got me down to a lower dose of Morphine, 15mg. tablets, one in morning, two at night for five days. Then one in morning and one at night for five days. Then one, once a day for five days. Done??/? Wrong, it about killed me. They said the first five days would be the worst. The 5th day I ended up in the ER, blood pressure of 185/156, three coats on and soaked through two layers, chills, sweats, shaking like a leaf on a tree, freezing to death, dehydrated, hadn't slept in five days and nights, headache, diarrhea, all the good stuff. They got IV's going and calmed everything down. Gave me two shots of Valium trying to make me sleep. Didn't phase me. Let me go home with a prescription of Clonadine for severe...
